Group N champ returning for rally

THE Barbados Rally Club’s Group N champion, Trinidad and Tobago’s David Coelho, is an early entry for next year’s Sol Barbados Rally.

Coelho, whose switch to Group N this year brought him the success that had evaded him in his previous four visits, will be partnered with regular co-driver James Harris in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX for the gruelling tarmac event.

With his Mitsubishi now based in Barbados he is expected to sharpen his skills in some of the events leading up to the Caribbean’s biggest motor rally.

This year Coelho chalked up his first Sol Rally Barbados finish, placing 18th overall and third in Group N. He then tackled all but one round of the rally club’s championship events, beating local drivers such as Andrew Mallalieu . . .
