Tennis licks

GOVERNMENT has come in for a stiff tongue lashing from president of the Professional Road Tennis Association (PRTA), Dale Clarke.

Clarke is incensed that the direction in which Government is headed in its quest to develop road tennis and even went so far as to deem last week’s Road Tennis International Workshop as a monumental embarrassment.

The workshop attracted participants from Guyana, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba and Antigua and Barbuda. It was the beginning of a series of activities leading up to the hosting of the World Road Tennis Championships next September.

The workshop was hosted by the National Sports Council and Clarke was one of the local people present. He alleged that although Government is talking about taking the sport globally, they are still stuck in the 1980s when it comes to road tennis.
