CAN SOMEBODY tell me what is going on with the Barbados Licensing Authority (BLA)?
1. Is the Government doing a sort of amalgamation of resources at the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) and Barbados Licensing Authority? When people call for the BLA they are hearing that it is the MTW and that they are being transferred to BLA, where the calls are then not answered by Licensing Authority staff.
2. The telephones are not answered by Licensing Authority personnel at the Pine; it seems that the switchboard is answered at MTW which is situated below, and the people there do not have a clue about what goes on at the BLA.
3. The BLA should have a separate switchboard to be answered by its staff, who can give the public timely information, and so relieve MTW staff from this unfair situation.
4. The BLA uses a letterhead to generate memoranda; this is not the correct use for correspondence. I thought that memoranda were separate from letters.
5. Where is the money collected at the BLA going? It is high time that the Barbados Licensing Authority gets its own switchboard. It would save the paying public a lot of distress and anger.
6. Why is there such a long wait to do business at the Licensing Authority? It seems that the persons in charge only see dollar bills and not individuals, so a lot of the public’s time is wasted.
