T’WAS THE DAY before Christmas when eleventh-hour shoppers pushed and shoved their way through a clogged Bridgetown and major shopping areas outside The City.

Inside the stores, the tardy spenders created a crush of human traffic as they grabbed essentials and gifts for their family and friends and settled into long lines.

On the outside, some motorists were caught in traffic jams for more than an hour as they sought to capitalise on sales, much to the delight of some stores and vendors.

Manager of the popular Swan Street store Jayson’s, Chandro Thani, said he was very grateful.
