A WOMAN in Bayland, St Michael, received an unpleasant shock yesterday when she was greeted by an iguana in her kitchen.

Avernelle Mayers was quite startled by the visitor, and summoned her husband Hugh to deal with the matter. She called him at work at about 1 p.m. to tell him of the reptile in the house.

“My wife called me at work and said there was an iguana in the kitchen. At first I laughed, but it was only when she took a picture and sent it through Whatsapp to me I realised she was not joking,” Mayers said. “I came home about ten minutes after, caught it and put it in a box,” he told the MIDWEEK NATION.

Mayers said he hoped the iguana’s owner would come for the creature, and last night someone did show up to claim the four-foot-long pet.
