Dry taps dealt harsh blow

THE DROUGHT CONDITIONS are a double blow for a St Peter man. For Ian Belgrave, cultivating the small garden at the side of his home was more than an additional source of income – it was a highly enjoyable pastime.

But with months of an unreliable water supply and insufficient rainfall, his crops have withered up severely. 

When the SUNDAY SUN visited his home in Johnson Road, Boscobel on Thursday, he was finally able to tend to the garden, something he had not done in weeks. That was because the water had come on for the first time in almost a week.

“The best water for the plants is rain water but since we aren’t getting much rain and the pipe on, you would survive with the pipe water. (LT)
