MAKE THAT ANOTHER record for the darling of Bajan track and field.

Akela Jones has done it again, this time breaking the Kansas State University pentathlon record in winning the event on Friday during the inaugural DeLoss Dodds Invitational at her school’s grounds in Manhattan, Kansas.

The 20-year-old Wildcats senior won with a total score of 4 643 points, breaking both her school’s and the Ahearn Field House’s records, while falling just 35 points short of the NCAA mark of 4 678 set by Georgia’s Kendell Williams at last year’s NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

In the process, Jones also equalled her own national record in the long jump when she finished first in that event with a leap of 6.64 metres. (JM)
