‘Help my ailing son’

A PLEA has gone out for Barbadians to “go fund” Ikhari Hinds-Lewis.

The 16-year-old is in the Intensive Care Unit of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) undergoing treatment for a brain injury he sustained just over a week ago when he was struck by a car.

A Go Fund Me account has been set up to help his mother Kassim Hinds cover medical costs and daily living costs she will incur while Ikhari, who is in a medically-induced coma, is being treated. So far the account has raised US$2 000 (BDS$4 000) but the family is hoping for at least US$10 000 (BDS$20 000).

The Hinds family travelled from New York to Barbados on January 17 to attend the January 20 funeral of Ikhari’s grandmother Olwen Hinds. However, minutes after they arrived at the Checker Hall, St Lucy family home, Ikhari was injured.
