YOU COULD not have walked away from the opening of Laff It Off 2016 without admitting that you had a great deal about which to laugh. But as with everything else, you can get all the people laughing some of the time but you can’t get everybody laughing at the same time.
That might have been a reason why a couple sitting in the audience agreed with each other as they exclaimed “I don’t get it”, in reaction to one of the exchanges on the stage. Maybe they were at fault and not the writer.
Also overheard from an elderly woman as she rushed away to her car after the three-hour programme: “They like they wanted to give people their money worth; that’s why they long it out so.” One might have thought that as a mature person, she should have been able to stay up late and enjoy some of the spicy spoofs that defined the show.
What seemed to some to be too long a production could honestly be tighter.
