RISING teenage surfer Josh Burke is in Australia where he will begin his 2016 World Surf League (WSL) men’s  qualifying series campaign.

The 18-year-old Billabong and Reef footwear ambassador, who has moved up from the junior to senior ranks, has been training in California for the past three weeks.

Burke will compete in six WSL men’s qualifying series events over the next six weeks. The first event starts today in Queensland with the Burleigh Heads Pro.

He will be the lone Bajan surfing at the events as he tries to accumulate sufficient points to get into the prestigious World Championship Tour.

The former St Winifred’s schoolboy, who also represents international brands Dakine accessories, Nixon watches, VZ eyewear, RPD surfboards and Futures fins, said, it was an experience for him arriving in Australia.
