SANDALS RESORT is reporting a “very successful” first year of operation in Barbados with sustained occupancy in the 90s throughout.

Speaking to the media on the first anniversary yesterday, the hotel’s general manager Ferry Zievinger expressed satisfaction with the performance of the 240-room hotel at Dover, Christ Church and he said the first quarter for 2016 continued to be strong.

Though Zievinger anticipated “the usual dip” in occupancy during the summer months, he was confident the support of the Sandals corporate marketing machinery would serve to boost business at that time.

Sandals took on a Crop Over-style atmosphere yesterday as several of the 500-strong team members temporarily abandoned their work stations to join a tuk band, costumed dancers and shaggy bears for a parade throughout the property. Pulsating popular Kadooment rhythms drew several guests from their rooms and the poolside to join in the congaline which snaked through the property.
