Illegal to create your own garbage dump, says Bizzy

RALPH “BIZZY” WILLIAMS has hit back at businessman Anderson Cherry, saying the waste hauler should understand Barbados was a place of laws.

His comment was in response to an angry letter sent by Cherry to the media yesterday.

“Mr Cherry should wake up and get it through his head that Barbados is a country of laws and you are required, in this island, to obey the law. And the law says you are not supposed to create garbage dumps wherever you feel like creating them, especially in Zone 2 which could pollute the island’s water resources,” he told the SUNDAY SUN.

Williams dismissed Cherry’s claim that the Sustainable Barbados Recycling Centre (SBRC) should be paying the waste haulers almost $6 million since they were diverting 300 tonnes of garbage away from Mangrove Landfill.
