FIFA course to focus on pitch upkeep

A MUCH-NEEDED two-day seminar on football pitch maintenance will begin today at the Radisson Aquatica.

FIFA, in association with the Barbados Football Association (BFA), will stage the regional football turf maintenance seminar.

About 60 representatives from the 30 member associations of the Caribbean Football Union are scheduled to participate.

This is the first time a course on pitch maintenance is being conducted in the Caribbean and BFA president Randy Harris said it was high time Caribbean pitches were properly maintained.

“One of the problems in the region has been the proper preparation and maintenance of turfs,” he said.
