MORE THAN HALF of the 27 samples sent to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) to be tested for the Zika virus have come back negative.  The results for the remaining samples are expected early next week.

Acting chief medical officer Dr Kenneth George made the announcement at a Press conference this morning, noting that the results were obtained moments earlier.

That means the number of confirmed cases of Zika in Barbados remains at three.

George and Minister of Health John Boyce hosted the Press conference at the Ministry of Health’s Culloden Road office to keep the public updated on the situation with the virus in Barbados and the Ministry’s vector eradication programme. (LK)
