THE CASE involving a 15-year-old in the middle of a disciplinary stand-off between her mother and officials at Springer Memorial Secondary School seemed no nearer resolution yesterday, a day after the student was escorted off the school’s premises.

In a Government Information Service release issued later on Monday, Chief Education Officer Karen Best confirmed that the student’s mother Elecia Weekes had been told almost two weeks ago that her daughter had been “transferred” to the Ellerslie Secondary School.

That public announcement served to rile Weekes even more as she rejected the transfer as disadvantageous and disrespectful.

“How can Karen Best make such a wide statement when the parent of the child has not collected any documents, has not signed anything, has not met with the headteacher? Weekes said in a telephone interview with the MIDWEEK NATION yesterday. “How can you come out and say she has been transferred? Where is the relevant paperwork that states that?
