CARICOM LEADERS have accused the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) of undermining the integrity of West Indies cricket and have also described the board’s standards of corporate governance as undesirable.
A Barbados Government Information Service (BGIS) release yesterday stated that Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and other regional leaders were so concerned about the problems facing West Indies cricket that they intend to approach the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Speaking at the 27th Inter-Sessional Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean (CARICOM) in Belize, Stuart said an initiative was taken that CARICOM leaders had to intervene “to protect the interests of the people in the region who patronised West Indies cricket and who have a vested interest in it.” (TS)
