BRIDGETOWN – Leaders Guyana Jaguars held on for a draw against Barbados Pride on the final day of their seventh round regional Professional Cricket League match at Kensington Oval here Monday.
Set 405 for victory, Guyana, who started the day on 52 without loss in their second innings, rallied to 252 for seven in 117 overs at the end of the match.
All-rounder Raymon Reifer, who made 19 not out off 116 balls in 131 minutes and leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo (seven not out) frustrated Barbados Pride, batting out the last 20 overs in an unbroken eighth-wicket stand. Bishoo faced 61 balls in 63 minutes.
Off-spinner Roston Chase ended with five for 77 in 41 overs, to follow his first innings haul of five for 27 in 15.5 overs. He ended with excellent match figures of ten for 104 runs to earn the Man-of-the-Match award.
Opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul top-scored for the Jaguars with 69 off 205 balls in 288 minutes. He struck eight fours and a six while captain Leon Johnson made an even 50, which was laced with three fours and three sixes in 92 balls and 110 minutes. West Indies’ Test opener Rajendra Chandrika also contributed 49 in 149 minutes with five fours and a six.
The Jaguars remained at the top of the standings, 17 clear of second place, Barbados Pride.
