THE LAWRENCE T. GAY Memorial School will remain closed tomorrow as plans for relocation are finalised.

Vice-president of the Barbados Union of Teachers, Richmark Cave, said the stakeholders, including those from the relevant environmental agencies, met at the Ministry of Education this morning to discuss the ongoing environmental concern, which has resulted in teachers and students falling ill and complaining for adverse reactions since last term.

Cave said a decision was taken to relocate the school out of “an abundance of caution”, while further investigations are carried out at the Spooner’s Hill, St Michael plant.

Three undisclosed locations are currently being looked at as alternative sites for the close to 600 students. The move is expected to commence sometime later in the week. (YB)
