Step it up

BARBADOS can only realise its dreams of breaking into the international market in a big way if it vigorously improves how it does business to conform to international standards.

And to accomplish such a feat, all players in the manufacturing and service sectors along with Government must put their heads together to chart a path forward, says Dudley Rhynd, former director of the Barbados National Standards Institution.

He said there needed to be a serious discussion to sensitise the average Barbadian and by extension the country to the importance of producing commodities that could meet international standards.

Speaking after a town hall meeting to solicit input for a final quality policy document, Rhynd told the DAILY NATION at Divi Southwinds recently that the importance of Barbados aiming for international standards when doing business was not “rocket science”. (JS)
