ON THE EVE of the Barbados Water Authority’s (BWA) decision to restrict the use of water across the island over the next three months, a ruptured pipeline sent gallons of water into the air along Black Rock Main Road, St Michael, yesterday evening.
The geyser-like spout that rose several feet was a main attraction along the busy road, just outside the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
The incident occurred hours before a BWA prohibition takes effect today and which outlaws the use of water in specific areas.
The ban runs from March 1 to May 31 and carries a penalty of $500 with an alternative of a month in jail if the fine is not paid. (TS)
