Zionites men and the junior national women’s team  walked away with the honours in the ninth annual UWI Scrimfest hockey tournament last weekend.

Before a large crowd at the UWI AstroTurf, Zionites defeated Deacon’s 2-1 in the men’s final, while the national junior women prevailed in a penalty shootout against ANTI.

Both finals were action packed.

In the men’s match, Zionites took an early lead in the 13th minute of the game, courtesy of the skillful Laurando Davis.

A flurry of short corners provided no relief for Deacons due to impressive defending by the Zionite backline headed by goalkeeper Theo Farley.
