THE HOUSE IS in session. That is the Barbados Seniors’ Parliament convened to address a number of issues that confront the society.

The Seniors’ Parliament is currently debating the topic Should Barbados become a Republic? at the Parkinson Resource Centre, St Michael.

Speaker in the Chair is former parliamentarian Hamilton Lashley.

In his first formal sitting, he read a letter from Speaker of the House of Assembly Michael Carrington who lauded the effort of the seniors in convening a gathering that would address issues that impact on the wider society.

Lashley said the Seniors’ Parliament was not a mock sport entity and its emphasis would be on good governance.
