THE NATIONAL UNION of Public Workers is looking to have an urgent meeting with the Personnel Administration Department and the Civil Service to stem the “madness” in the public service.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with the Customs officers this afternoon, which ran for just over three hours, acting assistant general secretary Wayne Walrond said they will be seeking a meeting to discuss several areas of concern raised by the officers.

The main grouse is the perceived lack of fairness and transparency in the process to fill the posts of customs officer 1, 2 and 3.

Workers in the department are protesting against the release of the new appointments where several colleagues who had been acting in senior positions have reverted to their original posts.

They are also protesting against the proposed transition to the Barbados Revenue Authority. (YB)
