THE FAIRY TALE hasn’t ended for basketball’s Cinderella story.
Don’t look now but Urban Vybz St John’s Sonics are in first place, having clawed out of two double-digit holes before rebounding for Sunday’s 60-50 win over Burger King Clapham Bulls in the Co-operators General Insurance Premier League at the Barbados Community College.
It was their third straight win and fourth in five games, moving the league’s surprise contenders into a three-way tie atop the standings with the Cavs and Lakers on the same 6-2 record.
And what a storybook run it has been for an underdog Sonics side that ended Station Hill’s earlier unbeaten run after also slaying pre-season favourites Pinelands and the defending champion Warrens.
