The Athletics Association of Barbados (AAB) added sprinter Josiah Atkins and Kalvin Marcus, both of whom played key roles in taking Foundation to second spot in the boys’ championship at the recent Barbados Secondary Schools’ Athletics Championships (BSSAC).

The two were notified yesterday morning and they joined the team for its practice session in the afternoon the National Stadium. Atkins will run in the Under-18 boys’ 200 metres while Marcus is down to compete in the Under-20 Boys’ javelin. Both are returning to Carifta competition, having competed at last year’s Games in St Kitts.

Head Coach Bryan Holder told NATION SPORTS that their addition to the team at late notice was an opportunity for them to develop their craft. “As a coach, I look at it as development and whether they were picked today or yesterday the fact is, we as a country determined that we are giving these youngsters an opportunity to develop their craft and to represent this country.
