THE RISING STAR of local swimming continues to shine.
McCallum Clarke did it again, capturing two more golds as part of an individual three-medal effort on Thursday as Barbados increased their tally to 32 medals at the CARIFTA Swimming Championships in Martinique.
Competing in the 11-12 boys’ category, Clarke started his impressive showing with a victory in the 200 IM, clocking two minutes, 27:67 seconds – a full three ticks ahead of his nearest competitor.
He returned moments later for an even better performance, equalling Nkosi Dunwoody’s national record in the 50-metre breaststroke by winning the event in 33:45 seconds.
Clarke topped off the effort with a bronze-medal showing in the 200-metre butterfly, where he came third with 2:31.76 behind Guadeloupe teammates Mitch Bourgeois (2:29.31) and Tom Lerno (2:30.62). (JM)
