PLANS ARE AFOOT to construct a new St Joseph Parish Church.
But in the interim, the congregation of the Anglican church could soon be worshipping in a prefabricated building.
This was revealed by rural dean for the St John Deanery, Reverend John Rogers, who told the DAILY NATION yesterday that the diocesan trustees were working on a plan to build a new church in the vicinity of Grantley Adams Memorial School in Blackmans.
The old St Joseph Parish Church was deconsecrated about two years ago and all its important contents removed, after large cracks as a result of the shifting earth compromised the safety of the structure.
“I think the plans are at a fair stage. I wouldn’t say fully advanced, but at a fair stage,” Rogers said.
