THE NEW STAR of Barbados track really shone bright yesterday.

Dominant distance runner Jonathan Jones did it again, winning yet another Flow CARIFTA Games event in record time after outclassing an 800 metres field in an awe-inspiring victory in Grenada.

Coming in as the Under-18 Boys’ favourite, Jones came from behind on the first lap before making his move and leaving the field in his wake, shattering Jerrad Mason’s old mark of one minute, 51.79 seconds with a 1:49.88 clocking.

It capped an impressive 800-1 500 double for the terrific teen, who also set a new record in the 1 500 metres just two days before.

Sprint sweetheart Sada Williams (below) also completed a double of her own, coasting to the Under-20 girls’ 200 metres in what would’ve been a record 22.72 seconds, if not for the wind reading. (PG)
