A 74-YEAR-OLD MAN died after a morning swim yesterday.

Evan Lloyd Downes, of Mahogany Circle, Union Development, St Philip, swam from Oistins to Welches, Christ Church, with the Dolphin Miami Beach group as part of their annual event.

During the swim he complained of feeling unwell and was taken from the water by members of the group and on to the beach at Welches. However, when medical personnel arrived, they pronounced him dead around 11:10 a.m.

Police public relations officer Acting Assistant Superintendent David Welch said it was being treated as an unnatural death. (PR/AC)
