Project for all

Barbadians might be asked to contribute to the redevelopment of the National Stadium.

The suggestion came yesterday from Minister of Sport Stephen Lashley, who was part of the welcome party at the Grantley Adams Airport for the athletes who returned from the Flow Carifta Games staged in Grenada over the Easter weekend.

“One of the things we will be looking at is opening avenues for everybody to contribute to a fund even though we may go ahead and source the big dollars,” he said. “Every Barbadian should feel they have the opportunity to contribute even if it’s two dollars, ten dollars, whatever the case may be, because this is a national effort.”

Lashley, who was delighted to welcome the junior athletes who collected 20 medals, said there was no timeline for the restoration of the facility, but added that the work would be done on a phased basis. (AT)
