BARBADOS’ young golfers are celebrating impressive performances in the just concluded 2016 Caribbean Open Junior Golf Tournament in Trinidad.

Fourteen year-old Xzavier Wiggins narrowly clipped fellow Barbados player Iz Hustler to finish second in the Boys’ 14-15 years division while Emily Odwin won the Girls’ 11-13 division in the tournament, which was played from March 30 to April 1 at the St Andrews Club at Maraval.

The 14-15 age group, which was won by Jonathan Jean-Noel of Guadeloupe with a gross 239, featured 14 regional juniors and appeared to be the most competitive in the tournament.

Wiggins, who appeared to be struggling in recent months with new clubs, seemingly found form on the Moka course and posted a 54-hole gross 245, which was one stroke better than the third-placed Hustler (246). (BB/PR)
