Saluting T20 stars

THE ROAD WAS their red carpet. Now the sky is their limit.

The Caribbean’s cricket stars were given a welcome-home for the ages yesterday, as autograph-hunters, excited children, cricket-loving adults and plain old fans said a special thank you during a motorcade for the successful West Indies T20 World Cup women’s and men’s team winners.

The Windies have not been on top of the game like this since their heyday in the 1980s, and an adoring public let the women know just how much their recent exploits in India were appreciated.

From as early as 2:45 p.m., people had crammed the Grantley Adams International Airport, long before the players arrived on their trans-Atlantic flight from London. (BA)
