A FEMALE TEACHER at a secondary school in St Michael has become the most recent victim of violence at the hands of a student.
An irate source close to the situation told the DAILY NATION the incident happened just after lunch where a general studies teacher in her late 30s was spat on, kicked and punched by a third-form girl. He added the teacher did not suffer any visible physical injuries, but described the exchange as “traumatic” for his colleague.
Yesterday’s attack has prompted the Barbados Association of Principals of Public Secondary Schools (BAPPSS) to join the Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Association in sounding its zero tolerance approach to violence against teachers.
“We don’t tolerate students acting out violence against teachers at all,” BAPPSS president Vere Parris told the DAILY NATION yesterday evening. (YB)
