DEAR CHRISTINE: Regret walking out on family

Date:

Share post:

DEAR CHRISTINE, I am a mother ofone who has a problem that I would likeyour advice on. It has to do with my child’s father.

Christine, simply put, this man is just so heartless at times. Yes, he is a very good father in that he provides for his son, but he seldom sees the boy and although he’s a small child, he still asks: “Where is my daddy?” When he sees him, he’s all smiles.

I loved this man more than life itself but I hate the way he treats me. Once, our son was so sick that he could hardly breathe. I was terrified and called him to come and help. Could youimagine that his man toldme that he couldn’t go to the hospital as he had to go to work the next day?

Can you tell me howa man can be so heartless? Can a father really love his son when he would not come take him to the hospital?

Because of this and other behaviours, I decided to end the relationship.

In adiition, he would not stop smoking despite I pleading with him to kick the bad habit. He wouldn’t stop and each time I had cause to talk to him, it ended up with him getting on bad and cursing me.

With all that was happening I decided to leave him, but now his family is saying I am an unfit mother. They should be telling him to clean up his act.

Dear P.E.G.,

I think you’vemade the right decision to leave out this man who, from what I can gather, is a drug addict. You hardly would have complained if you were just referring to him smoking regular tobacco cigarettes.

It hurtswhen thingsdon’t go asyou expect but it’s goodwhen you can recognisewhen a relationship isgoing nowhere and get out before it causes you more pain and distress.

As the old people would say, “better fish in the sea than wha’ catch already”. Better will come along. Just learn your lessons from this experience.

– CHRISTINE
