A UNION BOSS has accused the Attorney General of being disconnected from the controversial case involving a 14-year-old Ellerslie student and the union’s push for her expulsion following a physical altercation with a teacher.

Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union (BSTU) president Mary Redman made the comments as she revealed the union was yet to get a response from the school’s board of management over the union’s request for the girl to be removed from the Black Rock, St Michael secondary school.

Redman told the DAILY NATION the comments made by Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite on Sunday showed that he was disconnected from the situation given that she had articulated a position that was fair to the student and the teacher.

“To my mind it just reflects a total disconnect with the whole incident and [him] just trying to acquaint himself with the facts regarding the whole incident,” she said yesterday. (AD)
