Man shocked while picking breadfruits

A ROUTINE ACT gave a 57-year-old man the shock of his life, and landed him in hospital yesterday morning.

Ivor Griffith, of no fixed place of abode, was picking breadfruits in Farm Tenantry, St Peter, when the 18-foot metal pole he was using came into contact with electric wires.

Police reports said he fell about 20 feet and suffered injuries to the left shoulder and a bruise to his right hand. He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) by ambulance and was said to be in stable condition.

Fiona Weekes was one of those instrumental in getting medical assistance for Griffith and a response from the Barbados Light & Power Co. (BL&P).  (YB)
