Villa too strong for St Barnabas

GUARDIAN GENERAL Pride of Villa proved that their upset over defending champions C.O. Williams Rangers was no fluke.

They provided a fantastic encore over former queens Pine Hill Dairy St Barnabas when the Barbados Netball Association’s Division 1 league continued on Wednesday night at the Netball Stadium.

The former doormats of Division 1 outplayed and outscored St Barnabas 44-32 with captain Latonia Blackman leading the way with a sublime 30 goals from 33 attempts. Sister Nadia Blackman gave the performance of her life, adding 14 goals, many of which were rainbow gems, from 21 attempts.

The coordination between the Blackman sisters was so uncanny that they made a mockery of St Barnabas’ defence, leaving the likes of imposing Barbados defender Shonette Bruce, Shonte Seale and Jeneice Clarke jumping at ghosts and snatching at air. (KAB)
