IT WAS MIGHTY CLOSE, but in the end Tornadoes edged out Cyclones by three runs to win the final of the sixth annual Barbados Indian Premier League.

In a gripping, low-scoring Twenty20 final at the Maxwell Sports Club, Briar Hall, recently, Tornadoes managed only 59, but admirably defended the modest total by limiting their opponents to 56 in 17.3 overs.

Cyclones, captained by Banks Breweries chief financial officer Naresh Chatrani, needed four runs from three overs with two wickets in hand, but failed to complete the job as Krishna Murthi-Kandamaran and Sanjay Kini each took two wickets.
