VACCINATION WEEK 2016 got underway this morning at the Christ Church Parish Church.
In attendance were Minister of Health John Boyce, Permanent Secretary Tennyson Springer and members of the Branford Taitt Polyclinic.
Boyce described Vaccination Week as an extraordinary effort by countries in the Americas to ensure everyone had access to vaccines.
He said since the week’s inception in 2003, more than 503 million people had been vaccinated.
“This framework also provides a highly visible platform to raise public awareness regarding the importance of immunisation and to keep vaccines to the forefront of the political agenda.
“Immunisation is and should be recognised as a core component of the human right to health, an individual, community and governmental responsibility,” Boyce added. (AD)
