TOO MANY PARENTS are absent from parent-teacher association (PTA) meetings.
And the head of the National Council of Parent-Teacher Association (NCPTA), Shone Gibbs, is worried about worsening relations between teachers and parents, as education officials wrestle with recent flashpoint incidents that have pitted students and parents against schools.
“The tone that exists between teachers and parents at this time I’ve never seen before and we are very concerned about it,” Gibbs told the DAILY NATION.
One of the aims of PTAs is to promote closer relations between teachers and parents, but Gibbs said too many parents missed these imporant meetings.
He said this was a problem, given the present climate among teachers, parents and students.
