Cycling storm brewing

THE CYCLING fraternity is bracing for a stormy annual general meeting of the Barbados Cycling Union (BCU) at which a resolution will be tabled questioning the omission of 20 people who have applied for membership.

The resolution, which has already been circulated to the BCU and the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA), is being proposed by Queen’s Counsel and former Cabinet minister Keith Simmons. It will be seconded by immediate past president George Edghill.

Sources have indicated to MIDWEEK SPORT that voting will unlikely take place before the names are placed on the list and that legal action is on the cards if “justice is not served”.

A standing-room audience is expected at the BOA headquarters for tonight’s meeting where former racing secretary Charles Lynch is expected to challenge incumbent Keith Yearwood for the presidency. (MK)
