MORE THAN 250 overseas golfers have been confirmed for this year’s Garfield Sobers Golf Championships.

The 72-hole competition, now in its 15th edition having missed 2007 for the Cricket World Cup, will tee off on National Heroes Day tomorrow and run until Sunday at four courses – Sandy Lane Country Club, Royal Westmoreland, Apes Hill and the Barbados Golf Club.

At a Press conference to launch the event at the Sandy Lane Country Club yesterday, tournament director Dennis Foster said there will be a change this year as a result of the numbers.

“We have actually added a flight for the super seniors because the entries were overwhelming and we wanted another flight, so that’s an interesting development for us,” said Foster.  (RG)
