Kelly’s king of the road

ONE DOWN. One to go.

Joshua Kelly appears well on his way to a historic double, having signalled his intent to sweep the National Championships by leading from start to finish en route to his first Barbados road race title yesterday on the gruelling Stewart Hill course.

Just six months after capturing the Caribbean Elite Cycling Championships’ time trial, the 20-year-old pro rider reminded everyone of his class while finishing the ten-lap, 130km race in just under four hours.

He didn’t waste much time proving that dominance after breaking away from the main group on the first climb up Stewart Hill to open a two-minute lead – establishing himself as a strong favourite to unseat Russell Elcock in today’s time trial.
