Mia wants BRA answers

COME CLEAN ABOUT if the BRA will be a good fit.

Opposition Leader Mia Mottley has called on Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler to tell the country how many employees of the Customs and Excise Department are still opposed to being incorporated into the controversial Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA).

Mottley called for Sinckler’s explanation yesterday during the tabling of the Barbados Labour Party’s (BLP) no-confidence motion in the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) government in the House of Assembly.

“I want the Minister of Finance to address with seriousness the issue of how many officers have opted to go back from the BRA to the main public service. How much longer will we keep the businesses and households of this country under the threat of a go-slow because of the low morale at customs in relation to the Government’s stated intention of carrying them into the BRA,” the BLP leader told the Lower House.
