THE DEFENDING CHAMPS surely aren’t scratching about to start the season.

If St Stephen’s were looking to make a statement then consider the message sent after the BICO primary schools’ football kings gave St Silas a 3-0 drubbing at Bagatelle yesterday.

Former champions West Terrace weren’t as fortunate, though, having been beaten 1-0 by Sharon in the day’s other fixture at that venue.

Three-time winners St Winifred’s didn’t have a good day on the pitch either, after suffering a 3-1 defeat at the feet of Milton Lynch in Briar Hall.

Cuthbert Moore registered the biggest victory on the day by blasting St Margaret’s 7-0 at Gall Hill while Ellerton also strolled to a near identical 7-0 win over St John at the same venue.

Bay Primary scored seven goals too while inflicting a 7-1 hammering of St Jude’s at Greens. (JM)
