BILL AND HALEY BLEVIN’S Janak’s Gold with stable contracted jockey Reshawn Latchman in the saddle ran by hot favourite Lucky Adventure to register his seventh career win at the Garrison Savannah yesterday and take the feature race on the first day of the Barbados Turf Club’s second racing season.

The six-year-old gelding, the son of Janak out of All Diva, smoothly won the Betting Booth Staff Trophy Handicap over 1 800 metres for horses rated 105-87.

Latchman settled the Jonathon Simpson-trained animal on the inside just off leaders Lucky Adventure, ridden by Rasheed Hughes and Lavani with Affrie Ward in the irons.

That pair continued to lead the field right back to the home turn as Janak’s Gold closed the gap along the rails. In the meantime, the other favourite, Donicodidit, had come under heavy urgings with three furlongs to go.  (LY)
