THE SENIORS burnt up the track at the 15th annual Senior Games at the National Stadium yesterday.

Athletes aged 40 and up came out in their numbers, some simply to show the vigour and boldness of their years, others to qualify for the Huntsman Games in Utah.

Over the years the event has had tremendous impact, remaining the preferred event of choice among Barbadians for the Whit Monday Bank Holiday.

Athletes from Trinidad and Tobago again came out to compete against the Barbadians, contributing to the many records broken for the day.

Barney Brathwaite, competing in the 80-plus category, was one of the standouts, smashing three records. He won the 50 metres in a time of 8.37 seconds, the 100 metres in 16.36 and the 400 metres in 1 minute, 28.54 seconds. (RG)
