BAFFLED FOR 15 months, Kieron Pollard believes he’s “lucky” to be back in the West Indies cricket squad for next month’s day/night One-Day International Tri-Nation Series against Australia and South Africa in the Caribbean.

But Darren Sammy and Chris Gayle have questioned how he qualified for selection while Dwayne Bravo called it the “joke of the day” by the West Indies selectors.

Pollard and off-spinner Sunil Narine were named in the 14-man squad on Wednesday despite not playing in last January’s NAGICO Super50 qualifying region tournament, but there was no room for former captains Sammy, Bravo and Gayle as well as exciting all-rounder Andre Russell.

“Think the truth . . . or real reasons of expulsion will finally come out? Have been baffled for 15 months . . . then Pingo,” Pollard tweeted yesterday as he commented on his selection with Sammy and Gayle on the social media network Twitter. (EZS)
