Significant moves were made at each end of the Digicel Premier League last Thursday night at the Barbados Football Association (BFA) Wildey Astroturf.

Defending champions the Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme (BDFSP) gained ground on table leaders the University of the West Indies (UWI), as they defeated Empire SC 2-1.

While in the battle at the bottom, Claytons Kola Tonic Notre Dame edged Lumisol Technology Inc Pinelands 3-2.

BDFSP moved onto 35 points from their 15 matches, a mere point adrift of UWI.

The team’s leading scorer, Shaquille Stewart, opened the scoring in the 4th minute with his 13th goal of the season. Captain Romario Harewood provided some daylight between the team when he scored in the 35th minute to make the score 2-0.
