THE SPOTLIGHT was on the people who drive Barbados’ tourism business when top tour operators from all the island’s source markets gathered in Barbados last week for Connect Barbados 2016.

The floodlit courtyard of Parliament Buildings was the setting for the cocktail reception to welcome the tour operators who got down to serious deliberations over a two-day period during which they received updates on new developments in the local tourism sector and interfaced with key players.

The group toured the Museum of Parliament, feasted on local specialties and were entertained with the music of the Royal Barbados Police Force Band and local steel pan maestro Booney Brathwaite.

Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., representatives stationed abroad were seen mingling and mixing with the people to whom they pitch, sharing things Barbadian in a familiar setting.
